My Services

Individual Therapy

I provide individual therapy for adults with a particular focus on trauma, anxiety, relationship challenges, and depression. Therapy is personalized, as there is no one-size-fits-all approach when you want to feel better. I use a combination of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Psychodynamic therapy, Somatic interventions, and elements of Internal Family Systems Therapy (IFS) to uniquely tailor your care. Through individual therapy, you will develop a sense of knowing how you tick, how you relate to others around you, and how this impacts your experience in the world. But curiosity and awareness do not end there. Individual therapy also provides a space to reflect upon and learn about how various systems (relational, social, political, etc.) impact you, your place in the world, and your understanding of it. It is an opportunity for you to dedicate time, care, and attention to yourself on a weekly basis.

EMDR

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is a type of therapy that feels a bit different than traditional talk therapy. I like to provide my clients with a metaphor that helps me conceptualize what EMDR is and how it helps. Imagine you have a wound on your arm from an injury a long time ago. By now, that wound should have healed and scarred over, but for some reason, it didn’t. The wound still feels a bit raw in your day-to-day life, and as you engage with the world, sometimes debris may get into the wound, someone may brush against it, or maybe something outright puts pressure on it. Any of those events would cause that unhealed wound to evoke pain, and the pain would be real and valid. However, what we would know is that those recent events are not the core reason why your wound is in pain…it’s because of that injury that didn’t heal properly long ago. EMDR is a structured therapy that aims to identify and directly target the origin of the wound so you can heal from the past and experience relief in the present day.

Adjunctive EMDR

Usually, when people reach out to me for EMDR, they say something along the lines of, “I’ve been in therapy for a while. I know why I do the things I do, but I still feel stuck. It’s like my brain knows logically why I’m struggling and how to fix it, but nothing seems to make me feel better”.

I could talk for eons about that experience alone! If you have been working with a wonderful therapist and want to try a new approach, Adjunctive EMDR may be for you. This offering adds an additional resource to your ongoing treatment and allows for collaborative care (with your consent). Together, your primary therapist and I will work to support you in unearthing the deep-rooted traumas impacting you day to day. Adjunctive EMDR is a great way to focus on any major stuck points in your life in sessions with me while maintaining supportive therapy with your primary therapist.
